We really have harmed a whole generation of trans and gnc children by failing to communicate how serious a decision binding actually is, how there’s no ACTUALLY safe way to bind, how it permeneantly damages the body, how it can make top surgery more difficult in the future. I don’t think we should be keeping trans kids from binding (we let kids do all sorts of things they’re really not old enough to understand the potential consequences of) but we owe them the ability to make informed decisions at LEAST
So this is definitely an important conversation to have, but can you point me at some reading about “permanent damage”? I might just be lucky, but I had zero lasting effects from binding. I’d like to at least read up on it so I can have this conversation and be more specific than “be careful.”
Of course! I can’t easily source right now but I am more than happy to provide further info when I am not at work and on mobile. Unfortunately, like a lot of trans healthcare, a lot of what we know about binding is anecdotal and word of mouth. BUT permeneant damage can include:
-Musculoskeletal damage. Binders are indiscriminate compression tools; they can’t flatten the chest without applying pressure every other anatomical structure underneath including the spine, ribs, lungs and heart. Many people who bind experience chronic back pain, shoulder pain, sharp stabbing chest pains, permeneantly decreased lung capacity, literal spine deformation, etc etc.
-A continuation of the above but the ribs are actually jointed bones. Their ability to flex is absolutely vital to their ability to withstand trauma and protect your vital organs. Imagine the damage that would be done to your elbow if your bent your arm to full flexion and then tightly bound it closed like that, for six, eight, twelve hours per day, every day, for weeks or months or years. And you don’t NEED a functioning arm to live!
-Tissue atrophy. Forcing chest tissue to lay in an unnatural way can and will change the way that tissue looks, even to risk of atrophy. Some people who bind and only moderately dislike the way their chest looks find that they HATE the way it looks after binding for a period of time. Tissue atrophy can also make top surgery more difficult in the future, and increase the risk of complications like nerve damage.
-Worsened dysphoria. Once someone starts binding and becomes accustomed to seeing themselves with a flat chest, it can be much more difficult to see yourself without one, and dysphoria that much more intolerable. You can imagine the psychological feedback loop of binding more in response.
The typical safety measures passed around about binding are harm REDUCTION measures and should not be advertised as making binding “safe.” Binding is not safe. It is a very serious health decision with long term consequences and should be treated as such. That doesn’t mean it’s the wrong decision, but it should not be considered the DEFAULT decision for chest dysphoria which is frankly how it’s currently treated.
Hydra Bell- Owner of the Black Curtain. Her ability is awesome, read to know how awesome she is and she is looking for the “Strongest” demon and make him her husband. Fuyumi is still the number 1 bae tho.
Oni-san – I dunno his name, can’t remember. Sorry! >.< This chapter is fun to watch in anime.
Wolf – You will know more about him in the next chapters but he is one the main chara in the series.
If you guys also know other manga that you want to share, I’m open to suggestions. I can finish reading manga fast depending on how interesting and long the series is. Thank you in advance!
The story so far. Fuyumi Yanagi (student) accidentally found the door to the demon world and was captured by Staz’s (Otaku Vampire) gang. Fuyumi got caught up in a boss fight, her body got eaten by a plant monster leaving her soul/ghost.
Currently, they are on a journey on finding a way to get her body back to it’s original form.
This chapter, Staz uses his saliva to spray on her family and friends on the living world to create an illusion that she is still with them and not dead or missing so once revived, she can go back to her normal life as if nothing happened.
I’ll be posting chapter 4 tomorrow. Please read the manga, it is definitely worth it. I will post some other, highly likely, old manga/anime soon.
There’s been a student movement in Bangladesh and hundreds of thousands students have been protesting for a week for safer roads and justice for those who have been killed in road accidents. I will include a post of someone from Bangladesh so you can learn more about the incident.
by now, the Mobil Data and WiFi services in the country have been restricted so the news of students being killed and attacked won’t get out. Students in Bangladesh are using the hashtag #WeWantJustice to spread the news. Please use the hash tag on twitter because they don’t have access to social media right now. Here are some more pictures of the movement that I collected from the internet:
Please reblog, repost, share- do whatever you can to get international media attention and help them. These are children. These are students. We can’t just sit around watch them get killed! They students are just as important as the students in the U.S. They deserve to be safe. They deserve to live. Spread the word.
As much as Redkatherinee is a turbo piece of shit and deserves all of the flack they’re getting, can we not do the whole “kill yourself” and “you deserve to die” shit? Not because she doesn’t deserve it, but by doing this we are giving her a victimhood. This victimhood emboldens her and her fellow TERFs and they’ll feel like they have more justification to hurt trans folk.
Their hatred and violence will seem more justified because they’ll whip out the “LOOK AT ALL THESE DEATH THREATS I GOT FROM TRANS PEOPLE” and see their own violence as somehow “defending themselves”. Of course it’s utterly unjustified, but to TERFs like her it is.
You have every right to feel angry at her and TERFs like her, but let’s not give them more power to hurt you.
This is the election that counts. Start educating yourself now on who will be campaigning to be your congresspeople/governor/etc.
Register to vote NOW. Don’t wait. You can do it any time.
This is the fight we need to win. VOTE

VOTE
Also…reminder to pay attention to all local elections and VOTE. These elected officials are the people most likely to directly impact your life in the short term.
This has to start now. Right now.
Get your birth certificates. There may be a fee or long wait times. Make sure you get a certified copy.
Make sure you have ID. Dig into your state’s laws and the whole Real ID thing, because (and sorry I can’t research this now, but pneumonia) I believe there are certain states whose driver’s licenses don’t qualify for Real ID.
Make sure you’re registered to vote. Google it. Follow the instructions for your state.
Know where your local polling place is or find out if you can vote by mail.
Vote in ALL your upcoming elections. Yes, that means the little ones for city council or dog catcher or whatever. Vote those racist, homophobic, bigots out at every level.
They’re like weeds. You can pull up every visible bit, but if you leave one tiny segment of root, they’ll just come back.
To quote Mira Grant, rise up while you can. Because the Republicans are way the hell worse than zombies.
Damn skippy! My mantra all year has been “Come on, 2018…”
